Te Whatu Ora recognises and values the critical role that general practice, Hauora providers and urgent care partners have provided in the current Monkeypox (MPX) outbreak. We are pleased to advise that the attached funding framework will continue after 7 November 2022 and will remain in place until 31 December 2022.
Please see the attached table which outlines the extension to the original short-term funding, as agreed on 7 October to allow for the reduction in barriers to assessment, testing and treatment in the current MPX outbreak.
The iterations to the current funding table include:
- removing one follow-up only recognising that some who test positive with MPX require further follow up reviews and the clinician review to release from isolation.
- increasing the follow up time to 12 weeks post positive diagnosis acknowledging that some complications require ongoing treatment.
- the explanation of pharmacy co-payment.
Funding claims continue to be through the existing Covid Care in the Community contracts.
