Calling all antibiotic guardians - we need your help - EPiC Antibiotics Launched
Kia ora,
Many thanks to those of you who have supported our past dashboards. We are really grateful that you have taken the time to help spread the word about medicines access equity.
I am writing today to ask again for your help promoting our latest EPiC dashboard theme, EPiC Antibiotics, to primary care clinicians.
The EPiC Antibiotics dashboard was developed as a tool to help reduce the threat posed to global health by increasing rates of antibiotic resistance. Designed especially for primary care, we make it easy for clinicians to reflect on their practice in areas that matter – amoxicillin + clavulanic acid, UTIs and topical skin infection.
The dashboard also supports one of the recommendations made in a report from the Office of Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor, Kotahitanga: Uniting Aotearoa against infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance. The report describes the threat posed by antimicrobial resistance and recommends that prescriber benchmarking tools are made available to assist practitioners reflect on their prescribing practice.
We made this dashboard with some amazing folk from the New Zealand Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Pharmacist Expert Group (NAMSIPEG) who are leading the human-health fight to keep antibiotics working for future generations. We had another group of GPs, community pharmacists and nurses who also helped keep us on the straight and narrow. We thank them all for their time, expertise and good humour.
Please feel free to publish links to EPiC Antibiotic and/or this press release in your internal communications. You can see how the dashboard works for prescribers and practices by visiting our demo site.
Ngā mihi,
